Nomadi EN

It was the early 1960s when between Modena and Reggio Emilia Beppe Carletti and Augusto Daolio decided to form their own band. Their debut was in 1963 and the name they chose was Nomadi, a name chosen somewhat by chance but perhaps also by destiny.
In 1965 their first EP was released, entitled Donna la prima donna, and a year later they began their collaboration with a then unknown Francesco Guccini. From this partnership were born songs that would mark a milestone in the Italian music scene: Noi non ci saremo and Dio è morto, would become banners for millions of young people. And in 1972 Io Vagabondo still symbol song of the band and anthem for several generations.

From this moment the climb begins: television appearances, presence at singing events and numerous record works that will lead the band to official recognition by critics and the public.
Nomadi’s work does not stop over the years despite several replacements within the group, but on the contrary they manage to renew, modernize and draw musical sap from each new member.

Fifty-four years have passed but they are still there: 90 concerts a year throughout the Peninsula with an annual average of 1,000,000 spectators that include children, parents and grandparents, thus creating what can be called the “nomadic people.” In addition, the band has also assumed the nomination of the longest-running group in Italy, and before them there are only the Rolling Stones.

From 1993 to 2017 took place an event, the “Nomadincontro -Tributo ad Augusto”, now in its XXV Edition, which features the same band as the protagonist, with the intention of remembering the one who was its creator and inspiration: Augusto Daolio. The heart of Nomadincontro is the awarding of the “Tributo ad Augusto” prize, given to Italian artists who have distinguished themselves for humanitarian value. The award has been given to the greatest Italian artists: Zucchero, Roberto Vecchioni, Biagio Antonacci, Franco Battiato, Daniele Silvestri, Pooh, Piero Pelù, Francesco Renga, Luca Carboni, Fiorella Mannoia, and Enzo Jacchetti. Also over the years special awards have been given to: Don Gallo, Neri Marcorè, Luciano Ligabue, Umberto Veronesi, Don Antonio Mazzi, Marino Bartoletti.

To date, the Emilia-based group has 52 works, including studio records, live performances and collections totaling more than 15,000,000 copies sold. But there are other important numbers as well: 100 fan clubs from Trentino to Calabria that show all their support every day and more than 150 cover bands. Alongside this there is also the humanitarian commitment that has seen the Nomads as promoters of various solidarity initiatives and numerous charitable trips (To name a few stops: Santiago de Chile, Jerusalem, Chiapas, Peru, Albania, Vietnam, Sumatra, Brazil, Cambodia, Madagascar) that have led to meetings with the likes of: Dalai Lama, John Paul II, Yasser Arafat, Michel Sabbah Patriarch of Jerusalem, Fidel Castro, Tara Gandhi. To this must be added the sustained commitment in our land: in 2012 Beppe Carletti organized the Concert for Emilia in favor of the areas affected by the earthquake. The event was attended by 1,189,896 people and contributed to the restoration of a wing of the hospitals in Carpi (MO) and Mirandola (MO).

Also in the same year, Nomads also participated in the ItaliaLovesEmilia concert to reiterate their closeness to the disaster-stricken people of Emilia.
In 2013 Nomadi celebrated 50 Years of Music in Cesenatico, with a three-day event of music, meetings and solidarity, in the very Riviera Romagnola that gave the input to their debut in 1963.

2014 is the year of “50+1″ , the CD containing 32 fully revised historical songs and 2 unreleased songs. On June 10, 2016, the double album “COSÌ SIA – XXIV TRIBUTO AD AUGUSTO” was released, anticipated by the single “Così sia”.

Three years after the previous work, Nomadi’s highly anticipated new unreleased album NOMADI DENTRO was released on October 27, 2017.

The title loaded with meaning and strongly desired by Beppe Carletti, fully represents the identity of the historic Emilian band. At the same time, it is an album full of novelties, among all the presence of Yuri Cilloni (voice of the band since March 3, 2017) and the important contribution to the lyrics of Marco Rettani: elements, these, that bring a twenty of freshness to the new discographic chapter of Nomadi.

In addition to Rettani’s, the album boasts the collaboration of important pens, including Alberto Salerno’s and Francesco Guccini’s. The album is anticipated by the single “Decadanza,” on radio and all digital stores from Oct. 6.

Nomadi are Beppe Carletti (keyboards, accordion and backing vocals – since 1963), Cico Falzone (guitars and backing vocals – since 1990), Daniele Campani (drums – since 1990), Massimo Vecchi (bass, vocals – since 1998), Sergio Reggioli (violin, vocals – since 1998), Yuri Cilloni (vocals – since 2017).
